Can Websites Live Forever on the Blockchain?

Can websites live forever on the blockchain?

In this video, I explore the idea of Web3 websites: websites whose files are stored on-chain instead of relying only on traditional hosting. Unlike normal websites that need ongoing domain and hosting payments, blockchain-inscribed websites can preserve static content for as long as the blockchain remains available and readable.

I also introduce two projects I have been working on:

EarthLog — a long-term record of humanity’s story, from the origin of the universe and life on Earth to the evolution of human beings. The goal is to preserve what we currently understand about ourselves, our world, and our origins for future generations.

Marquez.web3 — a music website built as a practical Web3 example. It includes album images, playable songs, downloads, tipping, licensing, and separate BSV payment addresses that can also function as analytics.

This video is about permanence, utility, and what kinds of content may be worth preserving on the blockchain. Bitcoin is not only money; it can also be a data system for storing, organizing, and retrieving information.

In the next video, I’ll go through how I built these websites, including the tools, tips, and lessons learned along the way.
